Boudoir photography is a very challenging genre, far more than simple snaps of a partly clothed subject or a photo of a loved one. To create the results in images people are proud to show, those images with an obvious look of combined art and sensuality, rather than ‘tacky’ or ‘raunchy’ snaps; one must plan and prepare and go into a shoot knowing what it is you want to create.
To achieve that level, the photographer has to understand how to light the subject, how to put the person your photographing at ease, how they should pose a subject for maximum effect, and good digital darkroom skills; which today is fundamental for any photographer to create images that are one step above the others.
But this workshop is not just for the professional or aspiring pro, but also the enthusiast who simply wishes no more than to create wonderful shots of their loved ones for posterity.
When you know what you are doing, you can achieve rewarding results using anything from inexpensive speed light set up to industrial lighting. So during this workshop, we will show you how to light, pose, compose and guide the subject, using a variety of equipment for differing interests. Alongside we look at make-up, briefing and working with a client, further technical aspects and the post capture side. There will be a mix of example and practical shooting sessions as the workshop progresses.
The photo gallery requires at least Flash version 9.0.28.
Please install the latest FlashPlayer .
Your time with Professional Photographer, Jay Terry, is spent in our studio learning and re-creating a live client type photo-shoot. You will be taken through various lighting set ups from high key to the moody low key, easy set builds, using props, posing advice, composition, basic retouching and using post production software techniques.
You will need an SLR camera to part take in this course, arrangements can be made to hire cameras if you don’t own one, please ask when booking. If you have a Compact camera you can still take part in this course, however your camera will not have all the functions available to SLR owners.
Our Models are both highly sought after professional International lingerie, swimsuit and boudoir models that were hand picked based on their runway, magazine and studio experience, their professional attitude and personalities.
Having this level of experienced models will only add to the quality of your images you produce at our workshops. They understand make-up, wardrobe, lighting and posing without having to be prompted by less experienced photographers. They will also give you advice from their point of view. These lessons will be invaluable to understand how to put your models at ease and maximize the quality of images.
You will need a lens that will allow you to crop to half length and full length figure. This would ideally be a 24-70mm (Full frame) or 18-55mm (APS size). The preferable aperture will be f/2.8 on these lenses.
If you have a flash meter, wireless flash triggering system or speed light flash gun please bring these along with you. We can set up your speed light to trigger the studio lights.
